Welcome to Core Fitness Runners Run Club! Our mission is to provide a club that will train participants of all levels to learn how to run properly and have fun while doing it. Whether you want to train for your first 5K or for your tenth marathon, this program will provide adequate education, training and accountability. Core Fitness Runners is a supportive and encouraging group of runners and holds no expectation of ability; group runs have a "no drop" rule. During races, we place more emphasis on completing the event with no injuries and having fun than getting the "medal". If you're looking for a low-stress running club, to have fun, exercise, and meet new people, this is the club for you! How is the club organized?
Once signed up for Run Club, you will receive a packet that includes FAQ’s on your specific race or goal, plus a customized training schedule. The group will meet on Saturday mornings for a group run. At that time, you will be educated on a weekly running topic followed by a run based on your training schedule. A running coach will be available to guide you through your run and be able to answer any question you might have. As the group begins to grow, you will have several running buddies that will be completing the same workouts as you. How long are the Saturday runs? The group will meet at Meyer Park at 8am. Warm-up and flexibility will begin 5 minutes after. During that time, the weekly topic will be discussed and handouts will be passed out. The group run can last anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half, based on what distance you are running that day. The running coach will be available till the last person is finished with their workout. Where are the group runs located?
Meyer Park is a beautiful 286-acre park with running trails, fishing lakes, playgrounds and restrooms located at 7700 Cypresswood Dr. Spring, TX 77379. Approximately 10 minutes from Core Health & Fitness. How much does Run Club cost?
There is an entry fee of $50 upon sign up, followed by $40 a month. That includes an exclusive Core Fitness Runners T-shirt, weekly education, customized training schedule, Saturday group runs and guidance, monthly weigh-in and measurements (if interested), weekly accountability, unlimited access to running coach via email and discounts on running shoes and apparel at Fleet Feet. We ask that each member put a credit card on file to be charged on the first of every month to ensure payment. Payments can be stopped by giving one week’s notice and the card will not be charged. Members can start anytime with the fee being prorated for that month. Where can I go to sign up for a race?
Races are scheduled year around and are frequently in Houston and surrounding cities, but they do fill up fast, so it is advised that you register early. You can simply Google “5K”, “Half Marathon”, “Marathon” and the city you wish to run in, and you will find plenty of races to choose from. What do I need to bring?Wear comfortable workout clothes and running shoes. It is also advised that you bring a hat or sunglasses, as it will be sunny in the morning. It is important to stay hydrated before you run, but you should also have a couple bottles of water with you. To guide you will interval training, a stopwatch or heart rate monitor watch is highly recommended.
